What do you think would happen to the cell cycle if interphase was skipped

Biology

Margarita [4]2 years ago

Answer:

If mitosis skipped any of the stages, it would result in a mutated cell. If the cell skipped Metaphase, it could make daughter cells that are different than the parent cells. If the cell skipped Telophase, the cell would not divide, and the parent cell would attempt interphase with another nucleus.

Explanation:

The cell cycle has two main phases, interphase and mitosis. Mitosis is the process during which one cell divides into two. Interphase is the time during which preparations for mitosis are made.

The head of a phospholipid interacts with water because it is
Delvig [45]
Hydrophilic

A phospholipid is comprised of a phosphate hydrophilic head, which means that it is "water-loving," and a fatty acid hydrophobic tail, which is "water-hating." The head and the tail are joined together by a glycerol molecule.

The phosphate head is attracted to water because it is charged (i.e. negatively). Water is a polar molecule, which means that there is an uneven distribution of charges within its molecular structure with the oxygen side being "more negative" than the rest of the atom (which is "more positive" near the hydrogen). Thus, the negatively-charged nature of the phosphate head and the parts of the water molecule which are positively charged enable the two to form an "attraction" towards one another.

On the other hand, the hydrophobic tail is nonpolar, which means that it does not have a "more positive" or "more negative" side or part in its molecular structure. These differences in structure with water make the hydrophobic tail unattracted to water molecules and more attracted to other uncharged, nonpolar molecules (such as fats and oils).

Positive ions are __ and result when an atom __ electrons.
nikdorinn [45]

Cations, lose

Explanation:

Positive ions are cations and they result when an atom lose electrons.

An atom is made up of subatomic particles:

  • Protons are positively charged particle in the nucleus of the atom
  • Neutrons carry no charges and they share the nucleus with protons.
  • The electrons are negatively charged.
  • When an atom loses an electron, it becomes a positive ion because the number of protons is now more than the number of electrons.
  • An anion forms in a reverse way.
