“DescriptionRhetoric is the art of persuasion, which along with grammar and logic, is one of the three ancient arts of discourse. Rhetoric aims to study the capacities of writers or speakers needed to inform, persuade, or motivate particular audiences in specific situations.”

There are different examples of rhetorics, such as in literacy: syntax, analogy, diction, implicit reasoning, ethos, irony, anecdote.

Online communication allows people the ability to create new identities. People can switch genders, race, age, etc. since the vi
lukranit [14]

The above essay is an argumentative essay. See a sample below.

The question of whether or not the above practices are harmful or helpful is totally dependent on the reason why they are being done.

For example, witnesses to serious crimes and highly dangerous criminals may opt to alter their visual identities for sakes of protection. Alternatively, the criminals may also alter their identities to escape from the justice.

Hence, it is right to state that this does create ethical issues. The best practice maybe for society to come up with a system that keeps track of what kind of identity people switch from and to.

How do you combine these 2 sentences by subordinating the 2nd sentence. The St. Louis Cardinals have a rich history of success.
sergeinik [125]

Answer:

The St. Louis Cardinals have a rich history of success, although their offense this year was awful.

Explanation:

The two sentences are expressing contrasting ideas. The first sentence offers a type of compliment to the St. Louis Cardinals. If they have a rich history of success, however, we would not expect the criticism that comes in the second sentence. We are surprised to hear that their offense was awful this year.

To help express such contrast and, at the same time, make the second sentence a subordinate clause, we should choose an appropriate subordinating conjunction. The conjunctions that can help us do that are "though", "even though", and "although", among others. Therefore:

The St. Louis Cardinals have a rich history of success, although their offense this year was awful.

NOTE: We may be tempted to use "but" instead of "although". We need to keep in mind that "but" is a coordinating conjunction, not a subordinating one. That is why it cannot be used here.

In what ways do we negotiate our own identities through communication?
SashulF [63]
Other people can see our identies be ofcause how we talk, act, or what we do around a person. Text, emails, and phone calls are a big part, because if a random person were to go through all of our social texts, they would probably discorver a big part of us. We influence others and make them have opinions about us by the way we talk, or act towards them. Body language, eye contact, and acting interested. How we talk, what we do, our actions make people have "thoughts" and opinions about us. They can see a big part of us, which is our identity. Our personality.
