Andrew Jackson served as the seventh president of the United States from 1829 to 1833. He also served as military commander earlier.

His opponents called him king because they thought he abused his powers, especially the veto power. In his two terms in office he vetoed 12 bills.

He was portrayed as a king in a famous American political cartoon created by an unknown artist around 1832. There he was holding a veto bill in his hand and trampling on the Constitution.
