What are additives? What are some reasons people use them in food?
Anna35 [415]

Answer:

Food additives are substances added to food to preserve flavor or enhance its taste, appearance, or other qualities. Some additives have been used for centuries; for example, preserving food by pickling, salting, as with bacon, preserving sweets or using sulfur dioxide as with wine. To maintain the nutritional quality of a food - e.g. by avoiding degradation of vitamins, essential amino acids and unsaturated fats. To provide ingredients for consumers with specific nutritional requirements e.g., sweeteners in tooth friendly confectionary or bulking agents for those seeking to reduce caloric intake.

kupik [55]

Homeostatic control mechanisms are typically controlled instinctively by the nervous system.

The nervous system maintains homeostasis by regulating and controlling the other components of the body. A deviation from a usual set points functions as a stimulus to a receptor that transmits nerve impulses to a monitoring center in the brain.

Along with the nervous system, the endocrine system synchronizes the functions of the body to sustain homeostasis at the time of exercise and rest.
