\frac{ {a}^{2} - {b}^{2} }{a + b} = 12 \\ \frac{(a - b)(a + b)}{a + b} = 12 \\ a - b = 12

a - b = 12

Hope this helps.

\dfrac{a^2 - b^2}{a+b} = 12

--------------------------------------------------
Factorise a² - b² :
--------------------------------------------------
\dfrac{(a+b)(a-b)}{a+b} = 12

--------------------------------------------------
 Crossed out common factors, (x + a) :
--------------------------------------------------
a- b = 12

Triangles have three sides. Of which, the angles inside add up to 180°. Now if two angles were 90° there would be no third angle. Meaning this object would just be an open shape.
