During that time. the Soviet Union tried to spread Communism over different parts of the world, as was the case of Czechoslovakia, EastmGermany, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, North Korea, North Vietnam, and the Island of Cuba.

That is why the United States tried to impede the spread of Communism at all costs because it went against the economic and political interests. The US attempt to contain Communist influence in Asia and Southeast Asia.​
