Answer: The South set their own future when Lincoln was killed by a southern supporter. The Vice-President was weak and so were the next several presidents after, so there was no support to properly rebuild the south and set in motion a plan to reeducate the population in the way to handle themselves in proper society. There also was no plan for what to do with the newly freed slaves, which set the stage for the next 150+ years of civil strife. In some sense, the war is still being fought and it didn’t have to be that way.

Explanation:

What are 3 reasons Reconstruction failed?

But, reconstruction under the Johnson Presidency was a failure for a few reasons: 1) Convict Leasing, 2) Sharecropping, 3) the Ku Klux Klan, 4) Segregation in schools, even in the North, 5) Carpetbaggers/Scalawags, 6) misleading statistics, and 7) racism.

mrs_skeptik [129]

Answer:

A

Explanation:

I'm literally learning this now in APUSH. In 1914 which is the era of the gilded age people were dependent on railroads and oil. Thanks to help from Carnegie (and the other 4 men) (around 1914) and steel, the US economy rose back from its divided chaos.
