There are many concepts about what it is to research. In dictionaries, in methodology books there are several explanations.
Research is nothing more than the curiosity we have on a given topic, whatever it may be. This curiosity is often prompted by our perception of our professional experiences.
When we research, we discover, we learn and so we build our knowledge, through the learning that research offers.
Research means finding something and it is implicit to talk to people, often having to move from one place to another or even from one city to another, not to mention the countless readings that are made, research in libraries, specialized websites , in short, everything so that our research is successfully concluded.
