A 60 mm radium drum is rigidly attached to a 100 mm radius drum as shown. One of the drum rolls without sliding on the surface s

hown, and a cord is wound around the other drum. Knowing that end D of the cord
is pulled to the left with a velocity of 160 mm/s and acceleration of 600 mm/s?, both directed to the left, determine the acceleration of points A, B, and C of the drum.

The acceleration at points A, B and C are respectively; 960 mm²/s, 1600 mm²/s and 600 mm²/s

What is the acceleration?

The drum rolls without sliding and as such its' instantaneous center will lie at B. Thus;

V_d = V_c = 160 mm/s

Also, a_d = a_c = 600 mm²/s

Now, formula for velocity at A is;

V_a = r_ab * ω

where ω = 160/(100 - 60)

ω = 4 rad/s

V_a = 60 * 4

V_a = 240 mm/s

Acceleration at A = V_a²/r_ab

Acceleration at A = 240²/60 = 960 mm²/s

Now, V_b = 100 * 4 = 400 mm/s

Acceleration at B = 400²/100 = 1600 mm²/s

Define the following terms: data, database, DBMS, database system, database catalog, program-data independence, user view, DBA,
nalin [4]

Answer:

data - Any form of value in a column of a table in a relational database.

DBMS - Short for Database management system, which is a software that can be used to create, manipulate and view databases, e.g. MS SQL Server.

database system - Same as DBMS.

database catalog - Place where the metadata of a Database including its tables, users etc. exists, e.g. date created, size, number of columns etc. Also known as Data Dictionary.

program-data independence - Program-data independence refers to the design of keeping different levels of database (external, logical and physical) separate and loosely coupled from each other, for easier maintenance or modification work.

DBA - Short for Database Administrator, person responsible for maintaining the database. Its main responsibility is to keep the data clean and safe i.e. data doesn't contain wrong or invalid data, and is safe from viruses and is backed up.

end user - Anyone who is not directly interacting with a database, but through some software, like website or mobile application.

persistent object - An object of a class in a program, that interacts with the underlying database and is responsible for manipulating the database, the program is connected to.

transaction-processing system - A transaction process system is part of a software, responsible for making sure critical business transactions, like crediting or debiting money, either goes through cleanly or doesn't at all.

Using the AASHTO 1993 Flexible Pavement Design Procedure, design a pavement cross section that will provide 10 years service. Th
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

Check the explanation

Explanation:

Single Unit Truck ESAL = 43.38 + 5.16 = 48.54

Semi Unit Truck ESAL = 43.38+ 6.00+7.4 = 56.78

So total ESAL's during design life = (400*48.54 + 350*56.78)*365*10/18000 = (19416+19873)*3650= 3939

Kindly check the attached image

Here

Reliability = 95% = 0.95, therefore ZR = -1.645, S0 = 0.4, MR = 18

Delta PSI = 4.2-2.5= 1.7

Resilient Modulus = 18000 psi, So MR = 18

Assume SN = 3.0 for flexible pavements

There W18 calculates to 0.26807

So

log10 (3939) = 9.36*log10(SN+1) -.2/(.4+1094/(SN+1)5.19)) -6.01

Structural Number SN = a1*d1 + a2*d2 *m2 +a2*d3 *m3

= a1*d1 + a2*d2 +a2*d3

Why is the face of the claw on a claw hammer usually a smooth curve? Why isn't it straight or some other shape?
GarryVolchara [31]

Answer:

The face of the claw on the claw hammer is usually a smooth curve so as to improve the ease with which nails are removed when removing nails because as the nail held between the V shaped split claw is being pulled out from the wood, it slides more and more towards cheek, reducing the distance of the nail from the cheek which is the fulcrum, thereby increasing the mechanical advantage because the location of the hand on the grip remains unchanged

When comparing solids to fluids, the following is true: for elastic solids, the stress must be normal. For Newtonian fluids, the
Nat2105 [25]

Answer: D

Find the answer in the explanation

Explanation:

Elastic solid will obey Hooke's law which state that the force applied is proportional to the extension provided the elastic limit is not exceeded.

Examples of Newtonian fluid are water, glycerol, honey and all organic solvents

When comparing solids to fluids, the below statement is true

We can therefore conclude that

For elastic solids, stress is linearly related to strain, and for Newtonian fluids, stress is linearly related to strain rate
