One can deduce that the reason Wilder mentions rain at the beginning of each act is to foreshadow the events that take place in the story. In Act I, we see that Dr. Gibbs asks Howie Newsome, who actually delivers the milk, "Goin' to rain, Howie?".

Answer:

The rain is an indication of what is going to happen later in the play. Two examples of this type of foreshadowing is when Howie Newsome states that he doesn't think the rain will clear up, and when Mrs. Gibbs begs George not to leave because of how bad it is raining.

How does teenage violence play a part in "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet?"
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

Hopefully, these ideas can be used for your answer.

The play is awesome. It is one of the best ever and I even get my upper level youth boys to read it with me and engage in conversations about the play. This play opens with violence. There is conflict between families and Romeo and Juliet are lovers who take their own lives. The families are feuding and this often will be till the death. Shakespeare literally discusses the violence in Verona. This play contains violence, fighting, dueling, death, killing themselves, and Tybalt even feels Romeo has dishonored his family and he must pay the price. Verbal arguments, physical violence, and lots of conflict between the two families creates a great read and people can learn how the family hierarchy even fights among themselves within each family. Benvolio is the peace-keeper and Tybalt is violent and aggressive.

Hope this helps.
