A scaled copy of a shape will be similar to the shape.

<em>The side length m is 4</em>

From the attached image,

All sides of ABCD are the same (i.e. 10)

Since ABCD \sim QRST

It means that the side lengths of QRST will also be the same

Side QT = 4

This means that:

m =QT

So, we have:

m = 4

I don’t know how to do this question
lubasha [3.4K]

let x represent the number of apples and y represent the number of oranges.

TOTAL: x + y = 112

                  y = 112 - x

PEELED: \frac{3}{8}x = \frac{1}{2}y

(8)\frac{3}{8}x = (8)\frac{1}{2}y

3x = 4y

3x = 4(112 - x)

3x = 448 - 4x

7x = 448

x = 64

y = 112 - x

  = 112 - 64

  = 48

a) There are 64 apples and 48 oranges

Peeled apples: \frac{3}{8}x = \frac{3}{8}(64)= 3(8) = 24

Unpeeled apples: 64 - 24 = 40

Unpeeled - Peeled: 40 - 24 - 16

b) there are 16 more unpeeled apples than peeled apples
