Acuna wants to take people to the fields so that these people can see that the food on their table is planted and harvested with much sacrifice and suffering.

In this way, these people would have the same realization that Martin Espada shows in his poem, which is the realization that every product we consume was created by a pair of tired and bruised hands.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • The poem "Who Burns for the Perfection of Paper" shows the poem remembering the time he worked in a printing plant, forming blocks of paper.
  • The poet remembers how this was tiring work and that it hurt his hands a lot. This feeling was so bad, that whenever the poet holds a book, he remembers that a pair of hands had to suffer for that book to exist.
  • Acuna has a similar mindset in "Working Toward the Dream," as he is a farmworker who suffers a lot to work planting and harvesting vegetables.
  • The hands of all workers are injured, as well as their bodies and their lives as a result of this work, but consumers have no idea of this suffering when they have food on their tables.

In this way, Acuna wants to take people to the fields so that they have the same perception as the poet. This perception will show that every product that these people consume was made by workers who suffer in their jobs.

Please write a book summary
gladu [14]

Answer:

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo

Explanation:

So this one is fairly different from the other one, it's a book that was originally written in French. It's about a man named Jean who goes to jail for a long time for stealing bread. He later gets out years later, and struggles finding shelter and a job because he used to be in jail. Anyways, he meets a guy who offers him shelter, and Jean later steals his silver to sell it, the man finds out but kind of allows him because he knows he's suffering.

This is all I know so far because I'm not done reading it, (it's a very big book) but I like it so far.

Also the book was written in 1845, it's old, but interesting. :D
