After Mexico gained its independence from Spain, Mexican officials terminated the mission system for  fear of the influence of the Roman Catholic church in the new nation.

<h3>Mexican independence</h3>

       The Mexican War of Independence which started on  16 September 1810  and ended on 27 September 1821 was an armed conflict and political process which ultimately resulted  in Mexico's independence from Spain.

   

   It was a local and regional struggles that occurred within the same time in history, and can be termed a revolutionary civil war.
