Huck lied about his time with the King of England at Sheffield and had to keep embellishing his lies because Joanna was educated and exposed his lies.

According to the given excerpt from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, we are told by the narrator that Huck has an argument with Joanna which lasts for a while. Huck is trying to prove to Joanna that he has spent some time with royalty.

During the course of the heated argument, Joanna who is educated and smart asks Huck some questions about England which he fumbles on by saying some unbelievable lies about how he took "sea baths" with royalty.

This only lends credence to the fact that Joanna is more educated than Huck and she exposes his lies.

Therefore, the correct answer is option C

Which word in this passage symbolizes hope?
Murrr4er [49]

Sun is the word from the passage which symbolizes hope.

Answer: Option B

<u>Explanation:</u>

Wreckage, Inlet, and skeletons are definitely not the words that symbolizes hope. When the author says, ‘Finally, some of the storm clouds parted just as they were losing hope, and the sun shined down on the island’, he means that amidst the destroyed ships and stinky skeletons, when they were about to lose hope, there came a time when the clouds were clear and they could see a ray of hope.

That ray was the light of the sun, when everything seems like an end, that’s the time when the sun gave them aspiration. The rising sun symbolizes the new beginning and new hope, the setting sun also gives us a desire for a new day that will begin. So no matter whether the sun rises or sets, it will always be the symbol of hope.

Directions: Read the lines of poetry. Slashes represent line breaks. Identify two or more poetic techniques being used in each e
jolli1 [7]

Answer:

Alliteration, Repetition, Rhyme.

Explanation:

The given lines of poetry are taken from Rupert Brooke's poem "The Great Lover".

Alliteration- This is a technique when the same first letter of a given word is used again in the next word or close quarters. So, the alliteration in the given lines of poetry is <em>"radiant raindrops/ couching.. cool/ sway.. sunny"</em> etc. While radiant and raindrops start with "R", couching and cool starts with "C" and sway and sunny starts with "S". This is a pattern of alliteration.

Repetition is the use of the same word/ words in a consecutive pattern or a short space of the poem. This is used at times to emphasize the word. The repeated word in the given lines of poetry is "flowers"

Rhyme is the similarity in the sounds in the lines. This correspondence of such similar-sounding end words especially in lines of poetry is identified as the rhyme scheme. The rhyme in the given lines of poetry is in the words "flowers" and "hours" that have the same end-sound.
