What was the Progressive view on the women's rights movement?
Jobisdone [24]

Women in the Progressive Era achieved many important reforms. Perhaps their most concrete victory was the passage of the 19th Amendment, enfranchising women. Yet, reform women also began to redefine the role of the federal government in American society. Reform women worked hard to expand the scope of the federal government in overseeing issues of education, sanitation, health, wages, working conditions, and social welfare.

In the 1920s, the reform movement lost steam, as Americans focused on leisure, entertainment, and conspicuous consumption. However, when the Great Depression hit in the 1930s, Americans again became interested in reform.

Some reform women from the Progressive Era were already in the government, in the Children’s Bureau and the Women’s Bureau in the Department of Labor. Other women who had grown up in the women’s reform movement were brought into the federal government for the first time by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Eleanor Roosevelt herself had been involved in the women’s reform movement. Rose Schneiderman, of the WTUL, Frances Perkins, head of the New York Consumer's League, Mary McLeod Bethune, a civil and women’s rights activist, Sue Shelton White, a suffragist, Mary Williams Dewson, a suffragist, and many other women’s reformers became active in Roosevelt’s government.

These women reformers were instrumental in proposing and implementing Roosevelt’s New Deal legislation, much of which embodied many of the reforms developed and fought for by women reformers in the Progressive Era. For this reason, many historians believe that women reformers formed a bridge between the Progressive Era and The New Deal. Regardless, women reformers in the Progressive Era were certainly successful in improving the lives of countless Americans and in expanding the role of women in the economy, society, and politics.

What were kamikazes attacks?
wariber [46]

Kamikaze aircraft were essentially pilot-guided explosive missiles, purpose-built or converted from conventional aircraft. Pilots would attempt to crash their aircraft into enemy ships in what was called a "body attack" in planes laden with some combination of explosives, bombs, and torpedoes. Accuracy was much higher than that of conventional attacks, and the payload and explosion larger; about 19% of kamikaze attacks were successful. A kamikaze could sustain damage that would disable a conventional attacker and still achieve its objective. The goal of crippling or destroying large numbers of Allied ships, particularly aircraft carriers, was considered by the Empire of Japan to be a just reason for sacrificing pilots and aircraft.

These attacks, which began in October 1944, followed several critical military defeats for the Japanese. They had long since lost aerial dominance as a result of having outdated aircraft and enduring the loss of experienced pilots. Japan suffered from a diminishing capacity for war and a rapidly declining industrial capacity relative to that of the Allies. Japan was also losing pilots faster than it could train their replacements. These combined factors, along with Japan's unwillingness to surrender, led to the use of kamikaze tactics as Allied forces advanced towards the Japanese home islands

Answer:

Explanation:

If this is the cold war, then these people were of some influence. Children were influenced by teachers. Labor leaders could lead strikes that would cripple parts of America that were dependent on labor. Government workers could do two things:

1) They could pass on information that the Government of America would not really like passed on.

2) They could influence other Government workers to see the world that they (the instigators) did.

That was the second time in the 20th century that people in certain professions were targeted and made to answer for their political beliefs. The other instance was during the McCarthy era where Joseph McCarthy went after people in high positions. Movie stars, movie directors, and movie writers were all fingered. Their courage was tested: all they had to do was name someone who was also a member of the Communist Party. McCarthy was brought down, but the hatred he generated lingered on.

Was all this right? The most sacred part of the Constitution of the United States is the First Amendment. Many have died for it, believing strongly in its sanctity. Many of those accused of being communists were ordinary citizens exercising their right to speak. The did not threaten to overthrow the government. They only wanted everyone to be treated fairly and not be subjected to the brutality of those in power.

It is never right to loose your livelihood for peacefully expressing your opinion.

There is some connection between the work of Martin Luther King Jr. and the McCarthy hate movement.  J. Edger Hoover always had it in for King and tried very hard to make the connection between King and the Communist party stick. Fortunately he couldn't

The first time was after the first world war. I don't know much about this, but I do know that it was a brutal time and the confrontation between labor and the government officials was oppressive and many lost freedoms, family and jobs over the conflict. Try to find Attorney General Palmer to learn more.
