Which of the following statements is false? Punctuated equilibrium is most likely to occur in a small population that experiences a rapid change in its environment b. Punctuated equilibrium is most likely to occur in a large population that lives in a stable climate C. Gradual speciation is most likely to occur in species that live in a stable climate d. Gradual speciation and punctuated equilibrium both result in the divergence of species 2. Figure 18.22 If two species eat a different diet but one of the food sources is eliminated and both species are forced to eat the same foods, what change in the hybrid zone is most likely to occur? Changes in the Hybrid Zone over Time Reinforcement: than the purebred Fusion Reproductive hamers weaken the two species become hybrids continue to be produced can no longer Ocu Figure 18.22 After speciation has occurred, the two separate but closely related species may continue to produce offspring in an area called the hybrid zone. Reinforcement, fusion, or stability may result, depending on reproductive barriers and the relative fitness of the hybrids.

Describe the five categories of the vertebral column.
gladu [14]

Answer:

The five categories of vertebral column are:

  1. Cervical
  2. Thoracic
  3. Lumbar
  4. sacrum
  5. coccyx.

Explanation:

The 26 vertebrae of the spine or vertebral column are classified into five categories based on the structural differences between them. The first category is cervical and is made of seven cervical vertebrae. The spines of cervical vertebrae are shorter than that of others and have bifurcations.

The next category is the thoracic and is made of twelve thoracic vertebrae. Thoracic vertebrae are followed by lumbar region made up of 5 lumbar vertebrae. Spines of thoracic vertebrae are longer and are directed downwards while that of the lumbar vertebrae project towards the posterior region. the sacrum is present below the lumbar region and consists of five fused sacral vertebrae. The last category of spine is coccyx. It has four fused coccygeal vertebrae.
