The equation of the line that passes through the points (7, 450) and (14, 401) is y + 7x = 499

<h3>How to find equation of a line?</h3>

The equation of a line  can be represented as follows:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

where

  • m = slope

Therefore, (7, 450)(14, 401)

m = 401 - 450 / 14 - 7 = -49 / 7 = -7

Therefore, using (7, 450)

y - 450 = -7(x - 7)

y - 450 = -7x + 49

y + 7x = 49 + 450

y + 7x = 499

I really dont know how to start this Calculus 1 question!
hichkok12 [17]

According to the given plot, f'(1)=2. Then the linear approximation to f(x) at x=1 is

L(x)=f(1)+f'(1)(x-1)=6+2(x-1)=2x+4

Then

f(0.95)\approx L(0.95)=5.9

f(1.05)\approx L(1.05)=6.1

On the interval [0, 1], the plot of f'(x) is positive, so f(x) is an increasing function here. But we can see that f'(x) is approaching 0. This means tangent lines to f(x) have a positive slope, but the slopes are approaching 0 and are thus becoming less steep. This in turn means the tangent lines lie above the curve, so the approximations are greater than the actual values of f(0.95) and f(1.05).

If f(x) = 5x, what is f–1(x)?
yulyashka [42]
Keep in mind that an inverse function is simply the reversal of the x and y coordinates of the parent function.  For every (x,y) of the parent function, the inverse function has a point (y,x).  With the conceptual part out of the way, finding the inverse function is relatively straight forward.  If:

y=5x  then the inverse function will be what you have when you solve for x and then reverse the variable labels...ie.

y=5x so

x=y/5  now reverse the variable labels...

y=x/5  this is the inverse function of y=5x or as your problem notation stated:

f^-1(x)=x/5
