Find all points on the x axis that are 6 units from the point 4 3

Use the distance formula

a point on the x axis is where y=0

disatnce formula
distance between (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is
D=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

we have the point (4,3) and (x,0)
and D=6

6=\sqrt{(x-4)^2+(0-3)^2}
6=\sqrt{x^2-8x+16+(-3)^2}
6=\sqrt{x^2-8x+16+9}
6=\sqrt{x^2-8x+25}
square both sides
36=x^2-8x+25
minus 36 both sides
0=x²-8x-11
factor
we can't
use quadratic formula
for
0=ax²+bx+c
x=\frac{-b+/-\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

so
0=1x²-8x-11
a=1
b=-8
c=-11

x=\frac{-(-8)+/-\sqrt{(-8)^2-4(1)(-11)}}{2(1)}
x=\frac{8+/-\sqrt{64+44}}{2}
x=\frac{8+/-\sqrt{108}}{2}
x=\frac{8+/-6\sqrt{3}}{2}
x=4+/-3\sqrt{3}

the 2 points are
(4+3\sqrt{3},0) \space\ and \space\ (4-3\sqrt{3},0)

Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

2 coins are 0.25 = 50 cents. That leaves 92-50 = 42 cents and 5 coins to go.

The only way to get 2 cents is to have 2 pennies. That leaves 40 cents and 3 coins to go.

The only way to get 40 cents with 3 coins is 1 quarter, 1 dime, and 1 nickel.

So you have 3 quarters = 75 cents.

2 pennies = 2 cents.

1 dime = 10 cents.

1 nickel = 5 cents.

92 cents total and 7 coins.The only way to get 40 cents

A. Find the measure of m&lt;1<br> B. Find the measure of m&lt;1 ;m&lt;2; m&lt;3
natita [175]

Answer:

A: m<1 = 79 degrees

B: m<1 = 61 degrees, m<2 = 151 degrees, m<3 = 12 degrees

Step-by-step explanation:

A: An exterior angle is equal to the sum of the two opposite interior angles. 27+52 in this case.

B: The sum of the measures of the interior angles in a triangle is 180 degrees.

Since we know the two angles in the right trinagle are 90 and 29 degrees, we add them and subract the sum from 180 which gives us 61 degrees.

Applying what we know from part A, 61 degrees+90 degrees = m<2.

And, since we know m<2 = 151 degrees, we add that and the 17 degrees to then subtract that sum from 180 to get the measure of angle 3 which is 12 degrees.

So.. checking the picture below

we can say y = y, or just do a substitution and end up with

\bf tan(72^o)=tan(30^o)(30+x)\implies 3.08x=\cfrac{30}{\sqrt{3}}+\cfrac{1}{\sqrt{3}}x&#10;\\\\\\&#10;3.08x-\cfrac{1}{\sqrt{3}}x=\cfrac{30}{\sqrt{3}}\implies 2.5x\approx 17.32\implies x\approx \cfrac{17.32}{2.5}

once you know, how long is "x", then you can simply use the cosine of 72° to get "r"

thus    \bf cos(\theta)=\cfrac{adjacent}{hypotenuse}\qquad cos(72^o)=\cfrac{x}{r}\implies r=\cfrac{x}{cos(72^o)}

Consider the equation (x−4)(x+3)=0.
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

(1)       x  (x+ 3) - 4 (x +3) = 0

(2)        x = 4                 and       x = -3

Step-by-step explanation:

given data

equation

(x−4)(x+3)=0

solution

given equation  (x−4)(x+3) = 0

equation as a compound statement is

x  (x+ 3) - 4 (x +3) = 0

and

two solutions to the equation are

so x  (x+ 3) - 4 (x +3) = 0

x- 4 = 0           and        x + 3   = 0

x = 4                 and       x = -3
