Answer: y= 21x

Step-by-step explanation:

As you can see, the line is steadily increasing. To make an equation for the line, we need to use the formula y=mx+b.

Step 1: Find the slope, "m"

m is the slope of the line, calculated by finding 2 points on the line, and using the formula rise÷run.

To do this, find a point on the line. (Make sure it's an actual point, not one that is in between the lines). In this example I will use 0,0. Then, find the nearest (actual) point on the line. That will be 1,21.

Now, we will use rise/run.

To get from the 2 points I listed, we must rise, or go up, 21. Then, we must "run", or go left or right 1. In this case we go left.

Therefore, the "rise"= 21, and the "run"= 1. Now 21÷1= 21, so the slope is 21.

Step 2: Find the y-intercept, "b"

b is the y intercept of the line, whch is <u><em>the first point on the y axis that the line is on</em></u>. In this line, the y intercept is 0.

Step 3: Write the equation

Now that we know what "m" and "b" stand for, we can replace these letters with the numbers by <u><em>plugging in</em></u>.

y=mx+b

y= 21x+0

y= 21x

*Note that when the y intercept ("b") is 0, you don't write it in the equation, but if it were a number other than 0, you would.

Hope this helps :)

What is the length of the missing leg?
Crank

Answer:

a=\sqrt{609}\\\\a\approx 24.67793

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve for the leg of the missing right triangle, one must use the Pythagorean theorem. The Pythagorean theorem states the following,

a^2+b^2=c^2

Where (a) and (b) are the sides adjacent to or next to the right angle. (c) is the side opposite the right angle. Substitute in the given values and solve for the unknown,

a^2+b^2=c^2\\

Substitute,

a^2+40^2=47^2\\

Simplify,

a^2+1600=2209\\

Inverse operations,

a^2=609

a=\sqrt{609}\\\\a\approx 24.67793
