Pope Urban the II wanted to get back the Holy Land in which had been over taken by the Muslims at the time. Having the Holy Land was some what of a pride thing since Islams, Muslims, and Christians all use it for their Holy Land. Pope Urban the II promised people salvation for fighting in the Crusades ans since most people didn´t have access to a Bible, nor could read or write they believed him. They also believed him since he was the ¨Mouth Piece of God.¨

The king could continue to rule but must keep to the established laws and customs of the land.  <span>It also states that no freeman (i.e. a person who was not a serf) will be imprisoned or punished without first going through the proper legal system. In future years the word “freeman” was replaced by “no one” to include everybody.
