Answer:

For the first question we are given 5k < 39 and to solve for k that means that we will need to divide 5 from both sides.  This would remove the 5 from the left side and that would end up with us dividing 5 from 39 giving us k = \frac{39}{5}\ or\ 7.8.  k=8 wouldn't work because that doesn't fulfill the expression

For the second question we are given \frac{k}{2}\leq 4 and to solve for k that means that we need to multiply both sides by 2.  This would remove the 2 in the fraction from the left side and that would end up with us multiplying 4 by 2 and giving us k\leq 8.  k=8 would work because we have that k is less than or equal to 8 including 8.

Answer:

First is not a part. second is a part

Step-by-step explanation:

So, what you want to do in this question is plug the value of k=8 into the inequality and see if it is still true.

For the first one,

5(8)<39

40<39, which is not true

For the second one,

8/2 ≤ 4

4≤ 4, which is true

maw [93]

Answer:

  £930

Step-by-step explanation:

Put the numbers in the formula and do the arithmetic. The annual earnings are expected to be 12 times the monthly earnings.

  T = 0.2(12×£1375 -11850) = 0.2(£16500 -11850) = 0.2(£4650)

  T = £930

The caterer will pay £930 in income tax for the year.

docker41 [41]
The goal amount of the student groups are given in percentages, which are fractions based on one hundred.
The flutist raised more money than the trumpeters
The difference in the amounts the student raised is $256.5
Reasons:
The amount the school band is raising for the trip = $9,500
Goal of the flutist = To raise 18% of the total amount
Goal of the trumpeters = 85% of the flutist's goal
Required:
The group that raise more money, given that their goals are met
Solution:
Given that the goal of the trumpeters trumpeters is 85% of the goal of the flutist, the flutist raised more money.
Required:
The difference in the amount raised by the students
Solution:
The amount raised by the flutist = 18% of $9,500 = 0.18 × $9,500 = $1,710
Amount the trumpeters raised = 85% of $1,710 = 0.85 × $1,710 = $1,453.5

The difference in the amount raised = $1,710 - $1,453.5 = $256.5
