The question is incomplete and the complete form of the question is as expressed below.

A worker can clean a pool in four hours less time than it takes another worker. If men work together, the job takes 8/3 hours. How long would it take the slower man working alone?

What is the hour(s) that will take the slower man?

Taking x to be the hour(s) for the slower man and (x-4) be the number of hours for the faster man working separately. Thus,

1/x+1/(x-4)=1/8/3

1/x+1/(x-4)=3/8

[(x-4)+x]=(x)(x-4)(3/8)

2x-4=(x^2–4x)(3/8)

16x-32=3x^2–12x

3x^2–28x+32=0

Factorisation

Factorise to solve the value of x:

There are 2 values of x for the factors: (3x-4)(x-8) =0

 1. 3x - 4 =0; 3x= 4; x = 4/3 or 1 1/3 hours (invalid due to the fact that it fits not for the slower man who will work alone for 4 hours slower than the faster man as it is only 4/3 hours which is lesser than 4 hours.
 2. x - 8 = 0; x = 8 hours (answer to be adopted because it is fit for the slower man to do the job separately for 4 hours lesser than the faster man.

Verify:

1/8 + 1/(8–4) = 1/8/3 =3/8

1/8 + 1/4 = 3/8

(1+2)/8 = 3/8

3/8 = 3/8

Therefore, the correct answer is x = 8 hours for the slower man to work alone.

Which is the most precise and concise way to rewrite the following sentence from "A Fable" by Mark Twain?
svlad2 [7]

A.) The subject was dropped, but it was clear that it would be brought up again.

The first sentence is the most exact and the most precise because of how the idea is communicated in least amount of words possible. It is important to keep in mind that when you are writing something that comprehension always goes down the more words there are in a sentence. Thus, it is always best to communicate with the fewest words possible. Let’s take a look at another example. Say you are at a baseball game and a fly ball is coming directly toward you without your knowledge, and the person sitting next to you tries to warn you by saying the following: “Because of the velocity of a baseball coming in your direction and the potential damage it may cause if it comes into contact with your head because you are not wearing a helmet and because ambulance rides as well as emergency room visits are not fun nor cheap, you should probably seek to get out of the way as soon as possible.” How would that work? Now, compare that to the more exact/precise sentence of “Duck!” See how that works?

Animals are used for experiments, to do dangerous acts, to find criminals, etc. Find out how much animals suffer while helping h
MAXImum [283]

Answer:right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside barren cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, suffer from extreme frustration, ache with loneliness, and long to be free.

Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear of the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them. The complete lack of environmental enrichment and the stress of their living situation cause some animals to develop neurotic types of behavior such as incessantly spinning in circles, rocking back and forth, pulling out their own fur, and even biting themselves. After enduring a life of pain, loneliness, and terror, almost all of them will be killed.

There are many non-animal test methods that can be used in place of animal testing. Not only are these non-animal tests more humane, they also have the potential to be cheaper, faster, and more relevant to humans.

While some of the experimentation conducted on animals today is required by law, most of it isn’t. In fact, a number of countries have implemented bans on the testing of certain types of consumer goods on animals, such as the cosmetics-testing bans in the European Union, India, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, and elsewhere.
