Porphyria's Lover is a poem by Robert Browning. The lines, that tell about the weak heart of the lover that struggled suggests that the speaker doubts the depth of Porphyria's love.

What is the message of Porphyria's lover?

Porphyria's lover is a poem about the perseverance of love. The lover was insane and dominating which strangles his lover to death because he mistrusted her and had a doubt about her devotion to him.

He thinks that she is too weak to cut the ties and also he thinks of himself with low self-confidence. On the other side, she really cared and loved him. The lines that tell about passion act as a counterpoint.
