Which one of the following provisions was part of the first draft of the Articles of Confederation submitted to the Second Conti
Rudiy27

A provision that was part of the first draft of the Articles of Confederation submitted to the Second Continental Congress but not in the final version was a limited central government. A limited and restricted function to the central government existed because, under the Articles of the Confederation, the practice of power is centralized in Congress.

EXPLANATION:

The Second Continental Congress was once violence broke out between the American colonies and Britain in 1775, delegates of thirteen colonies convened in Philadelphia to plan the plan of war and soon, independence.

The Second Continental Congress carried out the normal purposes of a government, assigning ambassadors, issuing banknotes, increasing the Continental Army by conscription, and assigning generals to lead troops. However, Congress's powers were still very restricted. It did not have the power to raise taxes, nor did it have the capability to regulate trade.

There are some facts about The Second Continental Congress:

• The Second Continental Congress was held in Philadelphia in the summer of 1775, soon after the war with Britain had started. It was headed by the First Continental Congress in the autumn of 1774.

• Congress assigned George Washington as a leader of the Continental Army and permitted an increase in troops through conscription.

• On 4 July 1776, Congress passed the Declaration of Independence, which for the first time confirmed the colony's intention to be fully independent of the mother country.

• Congress built itself as the authority of the central government under the Articles of Confederation, which continued in effect until 1788.

Can you think of times in which the people have asked the government for support? Can you think of agencies that have been creat
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

During natural disasters, the people ask and expect the federal government to provide support, both material and moral. Material support not only includes immediate relief efforts as the distribution of food, medical care, clothing and security, it also includes financial support as federal funds and grants for reconstruction purposed. FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Administration) was created for that purpose. It is supposed to organize and channel support and resources to any state that has suffered a natural disaster and whose governor requests that a state of emergency is declared and that FEMA and the federal government intervene in order to assist the population. Hurricane Katrina in 2005 is one occasion when FEMA was used for support though because of an inefficient previous reorganization and its Director’s mismanagement it failed miserably. The population of New Orleans expected FEMA to coordinate rescue efforts to residents trapped in flooded houses or buildings and organize first responders to provide food, security, shelter and medical attention. However local incompetence by New Orleans major and FEMA’s own unpreparedness resulted in the very meager and disorganized relief efforts to be quickly overwhelmed by the magnitude of the disaster, causing hundreds of deaths.

Why might values such as self-sacrifice and loyalty have been so strongly emphasized
almond37 [142]

The divine favour that Romans believed protected their community demanded that people faithfully and piously worship the gods. Respecting oneself was also part of this value. Self-respect meant many things. Most importantly, it meant never giving up, no matter how difficult or painful the situation.
