Write the equation of a circle in standard form for the following:
max2010maxim [7]
<h2><u>Circle Equations</u></h2>

<h3>Write the equation of a circle in standard form for the following:</h3><h3>x² − 14x + 49 + y² + 4y = 0</h3>

To write the general form of a circle into standard form, use the formula

<em>(x - h)² + (y - k)² = r²</em>

Where,

<u>(h, k)</u> is the center; and

<u>r</u> is the radius

To transform general form to standard form, group the terms that has the same variables. Replace 0 with the constant term.

  • x² - 14x + 49 + y² + 4y = 0
  • (x² - 14x) + (y² + 4y) = -49

Next step is to complete the square of each equation inside the parentheses.

  • (x² - 14x) + (y² + 4y) = -49
  • (x² - 14x - 49) + (y² + 4y + 2) = -49 - 49 + 2

Then factor each equation inside the parentheses.

  • (x² - 14x - 49) + (y² + 4y + 2) = -49 - 49 + 2
  • (x - 7)² + (y + 2)² = √2
  • (x - 7)² + (y + 2)² = 4

<u>Answer:</u>

  • The standard form of the circle is <u>(x - 7)² + (y + 2)² = 4</u>.

Can u please answer this question
Paha777 [63]
One Way:
We can change the mixed number to a decimal for comparing.

1\frac{1}{4} m = \frac{5}{4} m = 1.25 m

1.4 m     >    1.25 m
Darren   >     Luke

Darren's jump was higher by (1.4-1.25) 0.15 m

Or another way change the decimal to a fraction and the mixed to an improper fraction too.

1\frac{1}{4} = \frac{5}{4} (Luke)
1.4 = \frac{7}{5}                               (Darren)
We need a common denominator to compare
\frac{5*5}{4*5}       (Luke)
\frac{7*4}{5*4}       (Darren)
\frac{25}{20}          (Luke)
\frac{28}{20}          (Darren)

\frac{28}{20}  >   \frac{25}{20}
        Darren           >            Luke

By:
\frac{28}{20} - \frac{25}{20} = \frac{3}{20}
Which is also by 0.15 m
Darren jumps higher and by 0.15 m

Answer:

B

Step-by-step explanation:

  1. divide the given polygon into two (a square and a trapezium
  2. area of trapezium=1/2(a+b)×b 1/2(12+6)×12 ans 108square unit
  3. area of a square=s×s 12×12 =144square unit
  4. add 108+144=252square unit
