Answer:

11. 4x^{3}-10x^{2}+6x

Take out 2x ( greatest common factor )
2x(2x^{2}-5x+3)

Factor

2x(2x^{2} -2x-3x+3)

2x(x-1)-3(x-1)=(2x-3)(x-1)

Don't forget about the 2x we took out earlier

Solution to 11: 2x(2x-3)(x-1)

12. 16x^{2} -25y^{2}

This is the difference of squares, so let's use the formula...

a^{2}-b^{2}=(a-b)(a+b)

if, a=16x^{2} and b=25y^{2}

then, the Solution to 12 is:

(4x-5y)(4x+5y)

13. 3x^3-24

First of all, you must find the greatest common factor because there isn't anything else you can do.

3(x^3-8)

Now you can see the difference of cubes...

a^3-b^3=(a-b)(a^2+ab+b^2)

so, the Solution to 13 is:

3(x^3-8)= 3(x-2)(x^2+2x+4)

Brian says that the expression 8n + 2 is equal to 83 when n=1. Explain why Brian’s answer is incorrect?
GalinKa [24]

Answer:

8n+2 first let’s plug in n which is 1

8(1)+2=10

The answer is 10 but Brian said the expression is equal to 83. He is incorrect because 8 times 1 is 8 and then plus 2 is 10.

I hope it helps.

Improper fraction for 5 9/13
ipn [44]

Answer: 87/13

Step-by-step explanation: You take you 5 and times it by 13 and + 9 because the equation is saying 13/13 5 times plus the 9/13,

So 6*13 = 78 78+9=87 and then you take the 87 and put it over the 13,

So, now you have your answer: 87/13

A rectangular magazine cover is photocopied by using a scale factor of One-third. The length of the photocopy of the magazine co
seraphim [82]

Answer: "reduced by a factor of One-third."

Step-by-step explanation:

Suppose that the original magazine has a length L and a width W.

If it is photocopied using a scale factor of K, then the measures of the photocopy will be:

length = K*L

Width = K*W

In this case, the scale factor is K = 1/3, then the measures of the photocopy will be:

length = (1/3)*L = L/3

Width = (1/3)*W = W/3

For usual notation:

When k > 1, we have an enlargement by a factor k

when 0 < k < 1, we have a reduction by a factor k

in this case, k = 1/3, then:

We have a reduction by a factor of 1/3

The correct option is:

"reduced by a factor of One-third."

Given functions f and g, find f-g.
Eva8 [605]

Answer:

-5x-5

Step-by-step explanation:

original functions:

f(x)=3x-8\\g(x)=8x-3

Subtract the polynomials:

f(x)-g(x) = (3x-8) - (8x-3)

Distribute the negative sign:

3x-8-8x+3

Combine like terms:

(3x-8x)+(-8+3)

Add like terms:

-5x-5
