ok so we want both equations answers to match since the angles are congruent

So I started at three and of course that was wrong

the way I got 40 was by increasing "x"

and then looking at the difference at both equations answers

for example 36

36x3= 108 -10 =98 and 36 x 2 = 72 +30= 102

so 102-98=4 so I knew I was getting close because we want the difference to be zero

so yeah I made my way up to forty and got it
