He has studied Thoreau and  Mohandas Gandhi and advocated their teachings of non violent resistance and civil disobedience against the social injustice. King and his friends had organised the Montgomery Improvement Association that organised the boycott of Montgomery's buses. They demanded  the black passengers should be treated with respect and the seating should be served on the first come first serve basis, African american drivers should drive on the routes that mostly had black Americans. The boycott went into effect on December 5,1955.
