The line: "and momma's door is closed" is very important in the poem because it is repeated various times. She says there is not much she wants to do in life so her life must be short which may already be stated in the poem. she must be in college because she says she would die before graduation. I think the title really fits the poem is because it has the word hanging in it and eventually will fall and die. Like stated "die before graduation." The part fire is like when you light a candle it will eventually get blown out (kill itself) or run out of wax (which is to die of age) that is my opinion.
