The speaker in the poem says that for the ploughman in Breughel’s painting, Icarus’s fall "was not an important failure" (line 1
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

Auden views that people must never become too busy to help others in their hour of need.

Explanation:

Breughel's painting of the fall of Icarus shows the ploughman unaware of Icarus's fall into the sea. Moreover, he did not seem to care much about the other person's suffering.

This is also rightly mentioned in the poem Musee des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden. And about the fall of Icarus, he wrote that it <em>"was not an important failure"</em>, even though he may "<em>Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry"</em>. This shows that for Auden, the ignorance of people in helping others in their distress is not how one should respond to others' suffering. Instead, he wishes that one must never be too busy to help others in their distress.

What is Lewis overall purpose in this speech? How does the specific content of the speech contribute to that purpose
Serhud [2]

Answer: Lewis overall purpose in this speech is to illustrate that success can be attributed to luck and it's not always about hardwork or commitment.

Explanation:

Michael Lewis, was the author of Liar's Poker, The Big Short and Boomerang and he gave a speech on the role that luck plays in our lives in 2012 during the graduation ceremony at Princeton University.

According to him, people are successful in the world due to the luck they encounter along the way. From the beginning of the speech, he spoke about how he was invited to a dinner, and sat beside the wife of a top person at an investment bank, that was refered to as Salomon Brothers and that the woman made her husband give him a job and through the job, made a good pay.

He further stated that successful people don't like hearing the fact that success comes with luck but he said accident played an important role in their lives. At the end of the speech, he gave his closing remarks by congratulating the graduands as the lucky few and told them to make a positive impact in the world.

Elanso [62]

Answer:

The option that BEST explains how these details develop a CENTRAL idea of the article is:

b. They both demonstrate the reasons why teens are drawn to dystopian novels.

Explanation:

This question is about the article "The Appeal of Dystopian Novels for Teens" by Jennifer Kendall. <u>The two details we are analyzing here are found in the section "Teen Appeal"</u>. Prior to the section, the author does focus on how dystopian novels and their characters have changed throughout history. H<u>owever, this particular section focuses on why teens are drawn to such novels. The two details are, thus, developing the idea that dystopian novels present an empowering and inspiring scenario, in which characters face challenges and injustice while counting only on themselves. That is what attracts the teenage audience to them.</u> Having that in mind, the best option is:

b. They both demonstrate the reasons why teens are drawn to dystopian novels.
