Unjust laws exist; shall we be content to obey them, or shall we endeavor to amend them, and obey them until we have succeeded,

or shall we transgress them at once? Men generally, under such a government as this, think that they ought to wait until they have persuaded the majority to alter them. They think that, if they should resist, the remedy would be worse than the evil. But it is the fault of the government itself that the remedy is worse than the evil. It makes it worse. Why is it not more apt to anticipate and provide for reform? Why does it not cherish its wise minority? Why does it cry and resist before it is hurt? Why does it not encourage its citizens to be on the alert to point out its faults, and do better than it would have them?” Henry David Thoreau, Civil Disobedience 1849

Answer:

Explanation:

It is most likely not the answer, but I picked

____ to show that building respect was a process

I picked this because. It started with ordinary acts that made him a member of the community. He came back from the war. He married (which meant he was not likely to move in a hurry). He had a family. He had the same wife for who knows how many years. He had a business, which was not only a business but a library of information for those like him who settled in the community. His accomplishments were such that he himself never though of what they might be very much.

He was ordinary in an extraordinary way and that's what the first paragraph shows. And he built is reputation quietly and consistently over the years.

With what issue did the Three-Fifths Compromise deal with
n200080 [17]

Answer:

"Three-fifths compromise, compromise agreement between delegates from the Northern and the Southern states at the United States Constitutional Convention (1787) that three-fifths of the slave population would be counted for determining direct taxation and representation in the House of Representatives."

Basically, the government was trying to decide how to count population to determine how much each place would get taxed. They viewed slaves more like objects at that time, the argument was whether to count them as a person/ citizen with a whole point or not at all. They decided to count each slave as 3/5 of a point.

The federal government follows the economic principle of laissez faire when it
kakasveta [241]
The economic principle of laissez-faire means the government has little to no interference in the economy. At its peak, the Gilded Age demonstrated the most pure of laissez-faire economics in the US. The government had no regulations for monopolies, trusts, the stock market, wages, or prices. Essentially the government is to help businesses by allowing businesses to thrive under a competitive, unregulated environment.
