It consisted of volunteersprovided by Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, including militia from Fayetteville in Lincoln County or Athens in McMinn County. Their main goal was to protect the Sabine River, as the boundary between Spanish Texas and Louisiana Territory was undecided.
2nd major battle= first seminole war,conflict between U.S. armed forces and the seminole Indians of Florida that is generally dated to 1817 through 1818. It began over attempts by U.S. authorities to recapture runaway black slaves living among seminole bands.
