Answer:

The fact that the title has the name "us" in it, is already signifying unity. In the first stanza, Dove explains that although Lady Freedom is homeless, she "has risen among us in blunt reproach." She is inspiring others to rise up from their poverty and mistakes. This poem uses the Lady Freedom statue to influence democracy and represent freedom in the United States. Lady Freedom and her principles are going nowhere. The whole poem is what Dove expects to come out of the American people. Unity, freedom, and democracy.
