The 4th amendment states, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue...." To paraphrase, the 4th amendment says that <u><em>people have the right to be protected from unreasonable searches and seizures unless a warrant is provided. In other words, no one has the right to invade your privacy and search your home with out the authorities providing a piece of paper ("warrant") that tells them to do so. So technically, you can be safe and secure in your own home. </em></u>
