The War of 1812 has been referred
to as the second war for America’s independence because the events that led up
to it was due to Britain’s continued interference with the country’s affairs. This
included British military presence and control over the seas. The war displayed
Americans’ assertion of their rights, particularly when it came to trade and
economy.
