There was a growing demand for Sugar in Europe, which was used to make alcohol such as rum. Political turmoil was another factor that led to the growth of the slave trade, since the Tribes and Kingdoms in West Africa were constantly at war with each other.

<h3>What is slave trade?</h3>

The trend of selling and acquiring human being with the purpose of work and exploitation is referred as Slave trade. These include sending and capturing human being for trafficking as slaved.

Alcohol manufacture requires sugar as a key ingredient. It is useful and was a valued commodity in trade. Many conflicts have  arisen in Africa between tribes and kingdoms due to power and opinion.

The culture of slave trade has increased significantly due to the growth of the Atlantic economy, the fast expansion of the English colonies, and the establishment of a plantation system as they  all increased the demand for labour from Africans.
