The sled accelerates with magnitude a such that

\left(2.3\dfrac{\rm m}{\rm s}\right)^2 = 2a(9.2\,\mathrm m) \implies a = 0.2875\dfrac{\rm m}{\mathrm s^2}

By Newton's second law, the net force in the plane of motion (parallel to the ground) is

31\,\mathrm N - F_{\rm friction} = (17 \,\mathrm{kg}) \left(0.2875 \dfrac{\rm m}{\mathrm s^2}\right)

so that the force of friction exerts a magnitude of

F_{\rm friction} = 26.1125 \,\mathrm N

Perpendicular to the ground, the sled is in equilibrium, so Newton's second law says

F_{\rm normal} - (17\,\mathrm{kg})g = 0 \implies F_{\rm normal} = 166.6 \,\mathrm N

The magnitude of friction is proportional to the magnitude of the normal force by a factor of \mu_k, the coefficient of kinetic friction. It follows that

F_{\rm friction} = \mu_k F_{\rm normal} \implies \mu_k = \dfrac{26.1125\,\rm N}{166.6\,\rm N} \approx \boxed{0.16}

(and the coefficient is dimensionless).

Explain why the duster accelerates different rates when different surfaces are in contact with the track
vichka [17]

Answer:

Because on different surfaces there's more/less friction. Smooth surfaces will allow the duster to accelerate while rough surfaces will decrease the acceleration.

A lava lamp is a decorative item found in some homes. The lamp portion contains a waxy substance in a liquid medium. When the la
dangina [55]

Answer:

Conduction, convection, and radiation

Explanation:

Conduction is the process in which energy is transferred from a hot body to a cooler body. Convection is a process by which heat is transferred as a result of the movement of heated fluid in the form of air or water. Radiation refers to the transmission of energy through a material medium.

Based on the information provided, a lava lamp could be used to provide an example of conduction, convection, and radiation.

Air is enclosed in a syringe at room temperature. The end is the pushed so the air only fills a 1/3 of the length of the syringe
borishaifa [10]

Answer:

A) Does not change

B) Decrease

C) Increasing

D) Increasing

Explanation:

When it pushes it's volume is reduced by 1/3 because it's Area is constant there for only volume is decreased. Then the number of molecules don't change

A) don,t change

B) Decreases

C) Density is increased because it mass doesn't change. there for

Mass = Density * Volume

When Volume is decreasing to keep mass constant Density will be increased.

D) Pressure is increased according to the boil's law. it says that for fixed mass and fixed temperature pressure is inversely proportional to the volume. then volume decrease pressure increase

A car enters a freeway with initial velocity of 15.0 m/s and with con stant rate of acceleration, reaches a velocity of 22.5 m/s
LiRa [457]

Answer:

a) The acceleration is 2.14 m/s^{2}

b) The distance traveled by the car is 65.61 m

c) The average velocity is 18.75 m/s

Explanation:

Using the equations that describe an uniformly accelerated motion:

a) a=\frac{v_f - v_o}{t} =\frac{22.5m/s - 15.0 m/s}{3.50s}

b) d= d_0 + v_0 t + \frac{1}{2} a t^{2} = 0 +15.0 x 3.5 + \frac{2.14x3.50^{2} }{2} = 65.61 m

c) v_m =\frac{d}{t}=\frac{65.61}{3.5}  =18.75 m/s
