The value of ? and X are 24 and 32 respectively

<h3>Similarity theorem of a triangle</h3>

A triangles is 2D shape with three sides and angles.

From the given diagram, the ratio of similar sides is equal to a constant as shown;

15/20 = 9+15/20+x

Cross multiply

15/9+15 = 20/20+x

15/24 = 20/20+x

Comparing with the given ratio

? = 24

X = 20+x

Find x

15(20+x) = 480

300 + 15x = 480

15x = 180

x =12

X = 20 +x

X= 32

Hence the value of ? and X are 24 and 32 respectively

You get one lottery ticket that will 5% of the time pay out $5, will 10% of the time pay out $10, and will 85% of the time pay o
Marta_Voda [28]

Answer:

expected payout for case 1: $2.1

expected payout for case 2: $5.5

I prefer the second scenario.

Step-by-step explanation:

First scenario:

- you get paid $5 with probability 0.05

- $10 with probability 0.1

- $1 with probability 0.85

So the expected value is

E = 5*0.05+10*0.1+1*0.85 = 2.1

Second Scenario:

- you get paid $5 from A and $10 for B (a total of $15) with probability 0.25 (this is, if B doubled the value of A)

- you get paid $5 from A and $1 from B (a total of $6) with probability 0.25

-you get paid $0 from A and $0 from B with probability 0.25

- you get paid $0 from A and $1 from B with probability 0.25

Hence the expected value in this case is

E = 15*0.25+6*0.25+0*0.25+1*0.25 = 5.5

Even though in the second scenario you are more likely to gain less money (for one try), the expected value is much higher, so i prefer the second scenario.

The bearing of the plane is approximately 178.037°. \blacksquare

<h3>Procedure - Determination of the bearing of the plane</h3><h3 />

Let suppose that <em>bearing</em> angles are in the following <em>standard</em> position, whose vector formula is:

\vec r = r\cdot (\sin \theta, \cos \theta) (1)

Where:

  • r - Magnitude of the vector, in miles per hour.
  • \theta - Direction of the vector, in degrees.

That is, the line of reference is the +y semiaxis.

The <em>resulting</em> vector (\vec v), in miles per hour, is the sum of airspeed of the airplane (\vec v_{A}), in miles per hour, and the speed of the wind (\vec v_{W}), in miles per hour, that is:

\vec v = \vec v_{A} + \vec v_{W} (2)

If we know that v_{A} = 239\,\frac{mi}{h}, \theta_{A} = 180^{\circ}, v_{W} = 10\,\frac{m}{s} and \theta_{W} = 53^{\circ}, then the resulting vector is:

\vec v = 239 \cdot (\sin 180^{\circ}, \cos 180^{\circ}) + 10\cdot (\sin 53^{\circ}, \cos 53^{\circ})

\vec v = (7.986, -232.981) \,\left[\frac{mi}{h} \right]

Now we determine the bearing of the plane (\theta), in degrees, by the following <em>trigonometric</em> expression:

\theta = \tan^{-1}\left(\frac{v_{x}}{v_{y}} \right) (3)

\theta = \tan^{-1}\left(-\frac{7.986}{232.981} \right)

\theta \approx 178.037^{\circ}

The bearing of the plane is approximately 178.037°. \blacksquare

Solve the system of linear equations using the
MArishka [77]

Answer:

no solution

Step-by-step explanation:

y = -2x + 3

6x + 3y = -3

the substitution method means you plug one equation into the next, because the first equation gives us a solution for y we can go ahead and plug that into y of the second equation

6x + 3(-2x + 3) = -3

6x - 6x + 9 = -3

9 = -3

which is false meaning that there are no solutions and the lines don't touch at any point
