There was an American Civil War that emerged between the Union forces and the Confederate forces. The experienced soldiers in Confederate army proved successful that they won the battle. In reality the number of soldiers in union forces were greater than the Confederate forces.

Northern states believed to be one country and they formed the Union forces whereas southern states formed to be Confederates.  

Union forces in the north were traumatized by the surge and victory of the Confederates in the south.
