An alliance is an agreement between nations or groups to help each other against other nations or groups. Therefore, alliances are usually built for mutual benefit or in order to achieve some common purpose. Alliances are very common in international relations, and they are particularly present in cases of war. Some of these cases were the Allies during World War II and the EntentePowers of World War I.
