The only direct votes used to choose a US President are cast by the 538 electors who make up the US Electoral College. Regardless of the candidate that their State chose as their preference, the majority of these 538 are not required by law to vote for any certain candidate. The majority of the 27 States that genuinely make an effort to make sure the Elector casts a vote that is true to the preferences of their voters impose a minor fine. Legislation has been passed by some that immediately annuls an unfaithful vote, removes the Elector, and installs a new Elector who must likewise cast votes in accordance with the will of their constituents. This mechanism generates some peculiar outcomes. For instance, in the 2016 presidential election, three electors chose Colin Powell over John Kasich, Ron Paul, Bernie Sanders, and Faith Spotted Eagle, even though none of them had won the state-level race. In government entities in the USA, which is a Constitutional Democratic Republic, the people elect representatives to represent them. Presidential elections are a way for the people of each state to communicate with the Electoral College representatives who they desire the Elector to vote for. They may or may not receive consideration from the elector. Even choosing not to vote at all is an option for the elector. Guys, we need to choose a President. I imagine the Founding Fathers had a talk along these lines. Nice to hear. Let's gather a few delegates from each state and pick who will serve in that capacity. They ought to presumably enquire about to learn who the locals think would make a good president. They may have some good suggestions. Why don't we get down and talk in a room with all of these state legislators in the middle of December? We will then declare our choice for President. Hey, why not choose Vice President in the same manner? Yes, that is a wise decision. Do that, then. And presto! The birth of the Electoral College. George Washington was chosen as president without the aid of any national election. Later, the general election was established as a more official means of ascertaining the proposals that the populace had for a candidate for president. Therefore, everyone now has the opportunity to voice their opinions to the Elector through a broad public vote rather than the Elector asking around at the neighborhood bar to choose who to vote for.

Which of the following was a reason that behaviorism lost its appeal?
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

The answer is C. It could not explain higher-level cognitive processes.

Explanation:

One of the main reasons why the behaviorist perspective lost its appeal and other perspectives, such as humanism, gained more strenght, is that, by explaining human behavior only in terms of responses to a stimulus, it failed to explain higher-level cognitive processes. It didn't provide the theoretical tools to analyze behavior that was not motivated by a stimulus or a reward or behavior that took place even after knowing that their would be a punishment.
