I have a bag with blue marbles and yellow marbles in it. At the moment, the ratio of blue marbles to yellow marbles is 8:5. If I

remove 12 blue marbles and add 21 yellow marbles, the ratio will be 1:3. How many blue marbles were in the bag before I removed some

There were 15 blue marbles in the bag before removing some

Let B=blue marbles and Y= yellow marbles

The ratio of B to Y is

\frac{B}{Y} =\frac{8}{5}

If we remove 12 blue marbles and add 12 yellow marbles,

the ratio will be

\frac{B-12}{Y+21} =\frac{1}{3}

3(B-12)=1(Y+21)

3B-36=Y+21\\

3(\frac{8}{5}Y)-36=Y+21

\frac{24}{5}Y-Y=21+36

\frac{19}{5}Y=57

Y=\frac{57*5}{19}\\

Y=15

B=\frac{8}{5} (15)\\B=24

Hence, there were 15 blue marbles in the bag before removing some

SOMEONE HELP ME plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Leona [35]
To find the answer you have to find the area of the fountain using A= pi r^2.
=(3.14)(64)
=200.96

Then you have to find the area of the big circle.
=(3.14)(11^2)
=379.94

Then subtract them both (379.94-200.96) and you get the answer 178.98 which can be rounded to 179 aka A.

What is the math definition for 'counterexample'? When is counterexample used?
LenaWriter [7]
A <u>counterexample</u> is something that proves a statement, or equation, wrong. A counterexample is used in math when someone creates a theorem, writes an equation, or creates a new rule and someone proves it to be false.

<u>For Example:</u>
Let's say that I said <em>an even number plus an odd number always equals an even number</em>. A counterexample of that would be 4 + 5 = 9, because 9 is odd, therefore proving the statement wrong.

Witch table shows a proportional relationship between a and b
amid [387]

Answer:

Option B is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

A proportional relationship is a relationship between two variables where the ratio between the two variables is always the same.

Divide b/a for each option, the option having same ratio for the complete tables have proportional relationship

a)

9/3 = 3

12/4 = 3

20/5 = 4

b)

25/20 = 5/4

30/24 = 5/4

40/32 = 5/4

c)

12/4 = 3

15/5 = 3

24/6 = 4

d)

4/3 = 4/3

9/6 = 3/2

12/16 = 3/4

So, Option B is correct.

A rectangle has a length of 9.00 inches and a width of 4.25 inches. What is the area in square inches? Round to the correct sign
Gwar [14]
Both numbers (9.00 and 4.25) have three sig-figs. This means that the final answer will have three sig-figs as well.

Multiply the numbers to get: 9.00*4.25 = 38.25 which rounds to 38.3 because the answer must have three sig-figs.

The units will be "square inches" or "inches^2" or "in^2". There are various ways to write the units portion.

Overall, the final answer is 38.3 square inches.
