Signs of increased intracranial pressure (ICP) that should be given the highest priority for a child with clinical findings related to meningitis.

Meningitis :

Meningitis is a potentially fatal condition brought on by inflammation and infection of the meninges. Bacteria, viruses, fungi, or other uncommon species like amoebas and parasites can all contribute to an infection.

Children who have bacterial meningitis can rapidly deteriorate into serious illness. One in five infected children has lifelong problems including cerebral palsy or deafness, and meningitis can occasionally be fatal.

The purpose of a nursing assessment is to outline the nursing care for a baby, child, or young person with suspected or confirmed meningitis.

Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) can develop acutely or over time. This clinical issue frequently arises in neurology or neurosurgery units. Traumatic brain injury is just one example of a condition or injury that might impair cerebral autoregulation and raise ICP.

If a patient is suspected of having increased ICP, immediate interventions should be given like securing the airway, maintaining adequate oxygenation and ventilation, and providing circulatory support if required.

This could have been a case of polymedication, but I doubt it since it is an 82-year-old woman. I'm not sure if they are antibiotics, but benzodiazepines and anticholinergic drugs can cause amnesia. Or, it is a possibility her primary care doctor gave her the wrong dosage of the antibiotics, causing side effects, one of them possibly being amnesia.

djverab [1.8K]

For a client who has developed acute pancreatitis it is important that the nurse should start gastric suctioning to stop pancreatic enzyme production.

How is pancreatitis recognised?

 • White blood cells, renal function, liver enzymes, and pancreatic enzyme levels will all be checked during blood tests.
 • abdominal ultrasound to check for pancreas inflammation and gallstones.
 • CT scan to check for gallstones and determine the severity of pancreatic inflammation

What phases of pancreatitis are there?

Acute and chronic pancreatitis have two stages each. The condition of chronic pancreatitis is more enduring. The majority of acute pancreatitis instances are minor and only require a brief hospital stay to allow the pancreas to heal. Immediately following pancreatic injury, acute pancreatitis develops.
