Answer: Scientists have known that smoking causes cancer since at least the 1940s, when epidemiological studies showed a clear link between smoking and lung cancer. Experiments conducted in the 1950s confirmed that the chemicals in cigarette smoke could cause cancer in mice.

Answer:

1940s

Explanation:

Although it was recognized before the dates you provided, the mechanism wasn't fully understood. In the 1800s, people made comments on the connection between hacking blood, TB rates, and early deaths. Remember that until the 1900s, medicine was not a science, and it was difficult to determine what caused any sickness, including cancer. After Mendel was rediscovered and Watson/Crick et al. were still being discovered, DNA mutations were only hazily understood. Additionally, consumption skyrocketed once the US government included cigarettes in GI rations; I doubt that as many individuals smoked or chain smoked earlier.

The finding was discovered in the 1930s by German scientists. The findings, however, went unnoticed for 20 years until being found in the USA and other parts of Europe since the rest of the world rejected them all as Nazis and did not want anything to do with them.

Alexxx [7]

The phrase "Towering Genius" is used in reference to Abraham Lincoln speech to refer to a person who "disdains a beaten path. One seeks regions hitherto unexplored. One who sees no distinction in adding story to story upon the monuments of fame erected to the memory of others. One who denies that it is glory enough to serve under any chief."

Why is The Towering Genius a threat to the perpetuation of the constitutional order?

According to Abraham Lincoln, the Towering Genius is a threat to the perpetuation of constitutional order because he or she seeks fame outside of the constitutional order established by

 • Madison,
 • Jefferson, and
 • the rest of the founders, but seeks to supplant the founders' political order and establish new modes and orders of their own — to be the new Washington, the new FDR, or the new Reagan.

According to Lincoln, "Nothing fits their goals more than the populist rise of a dissatisfied public, whose frustrations and aspirations they gladly harness in service of their own interests.

Abraham Lincoln warned his audience to beware of the man thirsty for political power. In fact, he might have been speaking subconsciously about himself when he said, “A towering genius despises a beaten path."
