Major General Nathaniel P. Banks was the commander of the troops of U.S who fought against the  Confederate troops commanded by Lieutenant General Richard Taylor along the Red River.

Explanation:

In 1871 campaign, United States of america take military action in Korea. In 1872, an election campaign was started. In 1873 campaign,  a conflict occurs between the Native American Modoc people and the U.S Army in northeastern California and southeastern Oregon regions.

The main of objective of Red River campaign is to destroy the Confederate troops and to capture east Texas.
