Solve this system of equations. Write the answer as an ordered pair.
baherus [9]
-2x + 6y = 6

6y - 6 = 2x

6(y-1) = 2x

(1/2) * 6(y-1) = 2x * (1/2)

x = 3(y-1)

------------

If, x = 3(y-1),

-7 * 3(y-1) + 8y = -5

-21 * (y-1) + 8y = -5

-21y + 21 + 8y = -5

21 + 5 = 21y - 8y

26 = 13y

y = 26/13

Therefore: y=2.

----------

If y=2,

x = 3(2-1) = 3

-----------

Answers:

x=3 and y=2.
