The quantity of liters of the 2% and 66% solutions should you mix together is 4.75 and 11.25 liters.

let

  • x = liters of 2% solution
  • y = liters of 66% solution

x + y = 16

0.02x + 0.66y = 0.47 × 16

from (1)

x = 16 - y

Substitute into (2)

0.02x + 0.66y = 0.47 × 16

0.02(16 - y) + 0.66y = 7.52

0.32 - 0.02y + 0.66y = 7.52

- 0.02y + 0.66y = 7.52 - 0.32

0.64y = 7.20

y = 7.20/0.64

y = 11.25 liters

Substitute y = 11.25 liters into (1)

x + y = 16

x + 11.25 = 16

x = 16 - 11.25

x = 4.75 liters

A robot is expected to filter pollution out of at least 350 liters of air and water. It filters air at the rate of 50 liters per
s2008m [1.1K]

Answer:

20W+50A\geq 350

Step-by-step explanation:

we are given that A robot is expected to filter pollution out of at least 350 liters of air and water.

Also It filters air at the rate of 50 liters per minute, and it filters water at the rate of 20 liters per minute.

The inequality for  number of minutes the robot should filter air (A) and water (W) to meet this expectations can be writte as follows:

20W+50A\geq 350

Hence the required inequality has been formulated.

For a) simply substitute the speed of the car into the equation to get the braking distance.
For b) rearrange the equation to solve for x by substituting the braking distance in.
Rearranged, the equation looks like this: x = √(9d)
For c) use a calculator to find the precise value of x in question b.
