The equation of the line of best fit using the slope-intercept formula y=mx+b is y = x - 5

<h3>Equation of the line of best fit</h3>

A line is the shortest distance between two points. The equation in point-slope form is expressed as:

y =. mx + b

m is the slope

b is the y intercept

Using the coordinate points (25, 20) and (60, 55)

Slope = 55-20/60-25
Slope = 35/35
Slope = 1

For the intercept

20 = 1(25) + b

b = 20 - 25

b = -5

Substitute

y = x + (-5)

y = x - 5

Hence the equation of the line of best fit using the slope-intercept formula y=mx+b is y = x - 5

Riley is planning to plant a lawn in his yard. He will need 9 pounds of grass seed. He wants to mix Bermuda seed that costs $4.8
tankabanditka [31]

Given that total number of pounds of grass seed needed = 9

Let number of pounds of Bermuda seeds used = x

Let number of pounds of Fescue seeds used = y

Then sum of both gives equation:

x+y=9

or y=9-x...(i)

Given that cost of 1 pound of Bermuda seed = $4.80

Then cost of x pound of Bermuda seed = $4.80x

Given that cost of 1 pound of Fescue seed = $3.50

Then cost of y pound of Fescue seed = $3.50y

total cost will be 4.80x+3.50y

Given that cost of 1 pound of mix seed = $4.02

Then cost of 9 pound of mix seed = $4.02*9

combining all three parts, we get equation:

4.80x+3.50y=4.02*9

4.80x+3.50y=36.18...(ii)

plug (i) into (ii)

4.80x+3.50y=36.18

4.80x+3.50(9-x)=36.18

4.80x+31.5-3.50x=36.18

4.80x-3.50x=36.18-31.5

1.3x=4.68

x=3.6

Now plug x=3.6 into (i)

y=9-x=9-3.6=5.4

Hence final answer is given by:

Let number of pounds of Bermuda seeds he should buy = 3.6 pounds

Let number of pounds of Fescue seeds he should buy = 5.4 pounds

What is the critical f-value when the sample size for the numerator is four and the sample size for the denominator is seven? us
fgiga [73]

Assuming that we are performing a two-tailed test, the significance level is α = 0.1 would be dispersed in the distribution's tails with α/2  = 0.05.

And we must consider two critical values that add up to 0.05 of a area on every tail of a F distribution with a 10 degree angle.

\begin{aligned}&F_{\alpha / 2}=0.311 \\&F_{1-\alpha / 2}=4.06\end{aligned}

<h3>What is critical f-value?</h3>

An F statistic is one that is ascertained through an ANOVA test. It helps determine the relevance of the variable groups.

Now, according to the question;

We understand that sample size for numerator is 11 and also the sample size for denominator is 7. So, for each case, we can calculate a degrees of freedom as follows:

\begin{aligned}&d f_{\text {num }}=11-1=10 \\&d f_{d e n}=7-1=6\end{aligned}

In this case, the F distribution could have 10 degrees of freedom with in numerator as well as 6 degrees of freedom in the denominator.

Assuming we are conducting a two-tailed test, the significance level of α = 0.1 will be distributed in the tails of the distribution with α/2  = 0.05.

Now, locate two critical values that collect 0.05 of a area on every tail of F distribution to 10 degrees of freedom again for numerator and 6 degrees of freedom for the denominator and we obtained using a table or excel;

\begin{aligned}&F_{\alpha / 2}=0.311 \\&F_{1-\alpha / 2}=4.06\end{aligned}

Therefore, the critical f-value for the two-tailed experiment is found.
