What is the top - dog  phenomenon?

This is the theory that is used to emphasize the fact that the students that are at the top of the learning circle are better than those students a that are seen at the bottom.

The top students are said to have the best experiences when compared to the other students. For instance we have this example.

In this case the person has moved from being a old and powerful student in one level to being a weak and young student in a different level.
