Thomas Nast was a famous caricaturist who made fun of William Marcy Tweed. Many claim that it was due to Thomas Nast's cartoons that people understood what Tweed had been doing wrong and the public turned on him. Tweed was heavily involved in many malicious acts and Nast helped bring him down.
